Red marble Conway Stewart 479 Universal Pen Stock 2235
Red marble Conway Stewart 479 Universal Pen Stock 2235

The Conway Stewart No 479 was in production for about twenty years, and during that time saw a number of style changes. The early pens featured a flat top and ball ended clip. This example has the domed cap end with the so called diamond clip, and a round shield on the filling lever. The imprint on the barrel is shallow, but can be easily read. It reads " THE Universal PEN    Conway Stewart London  No 479". Around the barrel a second imprint reads: "MADE IN ENGLAND". The pen is a lever filler. The ink sac has been replaced.

The pen is fitted with a rather flexible fine 14ct. CS number 1 nib. It is stamped "Conway Stewart   14CT  GOLD". It shows some wear but is still perfectly serviceable.  There is some very slight damage to the section end, though this is unlikely to be noticed in normal use.
