Parker Vacumatic fountain pen 1942 in Transparent Jet Stock No 1262
Parker Vacumatic fountain pen 1942 in Transparent Jet Stock No 1262

This Parker Vacumatic fountain pen is in excellent condition. There are no marks, scratches etc. on the plastic parts and the gold plated clip is excellent. Thedouble cap band is also in good sound condition. This pen has an excellent appearance. This pen is finished in "Transparent Jet", giving it a black appearance. However on closer examination you can see that it is in fact a laminated construction, made up from alternating layers of black and translucent celluloid. This allows the ink contents to be seen. This pen is fitted with the famous "vacumatic" filler, which uses a small diaphragm pump, operated by a plunger on the end of the barrel, to pump air out of the barrel and hence ink in. The big benefit of this filler is that since the pen barrel is more or less filled with ink, it has a good ink capacity. The disadvantage is that it does need at least 10 pumps to fill it completely. The extra-fine 14ct gold nib nib is stamped with the Parker arrow and " Parker U.S.A.", it does write smoothly, though it should be remembered that extra-fine nibs do work best on smooth paper. This is a very attractive nib with a high polish. This pen has been fully serviced and fitted with a new rubber diaphragm. It is perfectly serviceable and is ready for many years of reliable service.
