Condition:

This Parker 51 Special is in excellent condition throughout.  The plastic parts are free from any scratches or other marks and the lustraloy cap is bright and free from dings or scratches.  The "Special" was introduced as a slightly cheaper model of 51, though it is practically identical to the normal "Classic". The differences are a mirror finish cap instead of the frosted finish, a black cap jewel instead of the grey pearl one, a different filler guard and a different nib, made from a special Parker alloy known as "Octanium". In fact the nib on this pen has been changed at some time for the more normal 14ct gold item. 

This pen has a 14ct gold Parker nib with a medium tip.  It is in excellent condition and is a very good smooth writer.  

Parker 51s are generally reckoned to be one of the most dependable pens ever made.  This pen has had a full strip-down service and is ready for many more years of reliable service.
