The Parker 45 must have been one of the longest running mid-priced models in the Parker range, being popular as tough, no-nonsense writing instruments which perform well. The ballpoint has a push-cap action. It was produced in a wide variety of finishes including this "harlequin" design, dating from 1980 to 83. The harlequin pens came in two basic designs - "shield" as in this pen, and "circlet". All designs were etched into the steel cap and barrel and some were filled with black, blue, green or burgundy enamel. Only the grey (un-filled) and black were produced in quantity and the other colours are vanishingly rare. I have never seen one in burgundy before.
This pen is in pristine condition and should really be seen as a collector's item only.
