This beautiful Pelikan pen is finished in a very attractive combination of a white cap, gripping section and filler knob with a striped tortoiseshell barrel and gold plated trim. It is a super quality pen with a stunning appearance and is a pleasure to own and use.

The Souverän 400, more often known as the "M 400" is a traditional piston-filler, it is not a cartridge pen and must be filled from a bottle. The advantage of this is a large ink capacity compared to most modern pens. The filling mechanism is operated by twisting the white knob on the end of the barrel.  Note that this pen is virtually identical to the M 600, just a few mm shorter, making it more comfortable for many hands.

The nib is extremely attractive in itself and is made from solid 14ct gold, over-plated with rhodium, giving the two-colour effect. It bears the Pelikan logo and the imprint "14c - 585". It has a medium point. Note that Pelikan have a free of charge nib exchange scheme, should the medium point not suit you.
