The Pilot namiki "Vanishing Point" is unique in that it has no cap and the nib is retracted by pressing a button on the opposite end, much the same as a ballpoint.  This is no gimmick, it is a top quality pen with an enviable reputation for durability and writing quality.  This example is finished in "Raden" - a deep black laquer, inlaid with specks of abalone shell - mother of pearl, giving a beautiful multi-coloured sparkling effect.  This pen is more or less unused and is in mint condition.

The Vanishing point pen is a cartridge/converter filler, taking Namiki cartridges or it can be bottle filled using the twist-action converter, supplied.

The nib is a top quality 18ct solid gold item and has a fine italic stub tip.  This writes with an italic script, but is somewhat blunter and easier to use than a standard italic - quite practical for everyday use.  In fact this pen is supplied with two nibs, the other being a medium italic stub.  They are easily swapped, giving a handy choice of writing lines.
