This is dark pink moiré pen and pencil set made in the early 1940s. The pen has a short gold plated filler lever terminated with a small round shield. There is some slight barrel distortion around the lever. The cap has a single gold band, with clip retained by a black domed stud. The barrel's imprint is mainly deep and clear, reading " "DINKIE" Conway Stewart London". A more shallow third line reads "No 540". The fine/medium nib is stamped "Conway Stewart 14CT GOLD", which writes smoothly. The ink sac has been replaced. The pen has no marks of marks of significance, and overall is a charming attractive pen.
The matching pencil, in dark pink moiré, has a short "diamond"clip . The black cap has been damaged, and now shows some longitudinal cracks. This can be seen in the photograph. The imprint is clear reading "DURO-POINT NO 2R Conway Stewart London". The pencil lead is advanced by twisting the black end cap. It takes 0.048" / 1.24mm leads. Apart from the damaged cap the pencil has no marks of significance.
The pen and pencil come in a Conway Stewart box. Unfortunately the box has survived less well than its contents and is a bit tatty. The inside of the lid is printed Conway Stewart.
