The first Parker Victories were introduced to the Parker range in 1935 and always followed the general styling of the Duofolds, though with distinctive differences in details. This smart burgundy Parker "Victory Mk V" fountain pen dates from around 1962. The Mark V was the last of the Victories and is virtually identical to the Duofold Junior of the same period. The barrel has a shallow imprint reading " PARKER VICTORY REG. T.M. MADE IN ENGLAND". This pen has an aerometric filler, which uses a simple spring pressure bar to compress the plastic ink sac. The ink feed incorporates a breather tube which ensures easy filling as well as a well regulated ink flow. There is some slight discolouration of the metal filler guard in places (see picture), though it is not corroded and it is normally hidden anyway. This filler uses a plastic ink sac, which doesn't deteriorate or perish like a rubber sac.
The pen cap has a gold-plated clip and band with a red "jewel" in the end, matching the rest of the pen. The clip is the Parker arrow design. The cap band is the narrow variety with the zig-zag pattern and engraving blank. The smooth free-flowing broad nib is stamped "PARKER 14K 585 ENGLAND 10".
This pen has years of service left in it and would be a good choice for someone who likes to write with a traditional fountain pen. It could equally form part of a collection. It is in full working order and is an excellent writer.
