The Conway Stewart 85L lever filling pen was in production in England from 1957 to some time in 1963. Originally priced at 20/- (£1), this example is finished in plain black, the cap having a single medium gold plated cap band and a 'diamond' clip (the shape of the clip end). The barrel is free from any significant scratches and has a very deep imprint, reading " Conway Stewart 85L     MADE IN ENGLAND". It is a lever filling pen,  the short lever featuring the intertwined CS on the badge end.  The rubber ink sac has been replaced. There is some minor wear to the cap band, which is not visible under normal use.

It is fitted with a fine Conway Stewart 14ct gold nib. It is stamped "Conway Stewart  14ct GOLD      3B" - the '3B' being within the section and so not normally visible. Of course it writes nicely.
