Made in the U.S.A. in 1947, this Parker VS fountain pen was believed by some to outwardly resemble the more well known Parker 51s. The cap clip, retained by a pearl jewel differs from the Parker 51 in that it is tapered, and stamped "PARKER". The nib is not hooded either and as can be seen in the photograph, is fitted with a substantial nib. The pen is also unusual in being fitted with a transparent lucite feed, so that you can see the underside of the handsome nib. The production of this model began in 1946 and was phased out in 1949 with the growing popularity of the hooded nib.
The pen is a button-filler. The blind cap is removed to reveal an aluminum button (shown in the lower photo on the main page). This operates a pressure bar which compresses the ink sac, which fills as the button is released. The ink sac has been renewed. There is a shallow imprint around the barrel just by the cap ring which reads "PARKER "VS" .7. MADE IN U.S.A.".
The medium Parker nib is stamped "PARKER U.S.A. .7. R".
